From Raleigh:
Take I-40 west to exit #270 (the 15-501 exit). Turn left to Chapel Hill. Go 1.6 miles to Franklin Street exit to the right (about 1/4 mile after Erwin Road traffic light - this exit is preceded by about 1/2 block with a Morehead Planetarium sign and immediately at the exit there is a Franklin Street sign). Take this exit and proceed on Franklin Street for 2.6 miles. Morehead Planetarium is located on the left side of the road about 1/2 block after Hillsborough Street (also labeled Raleigh St. on left side of road) traffic light.
Or:
Take I-40 west to exit #273B. This puts you on route 54 going west, which you take 4 miles to the Raleigh Street traffic light (this is about 1 mile beyond the 54/15-501 bypass, which you do not get on). Turn right at Raleigh Street. Go north two blocks to the Franklin Street traffic light. Turn left onto Franklin Street, and the Morehead Planetarium is about 1/2 block down on the left side of the street.

From Pittsboro:
Take 15-501 north until you reach the point where 15-501 links with Route 54 to become the bypass around Chapel Hill. DO NOT GET ON THE BYPASS. Instead, follow the road (it becomes Columbia Street) for 1.5 miles (7 stoplights) into Chapel Hill. Turn right at the eighth traffic light - Franklin Street. Morehead Planetarium is about 1/2 mile down Franklin Street on the right side.

From Durham:
Take I-85 South to 15-501 South. Exit 15-501 at Franklin Street (this exit is preceded by about 1/2 block with a Morehead Planetarium sign and immediately at the exit there is a Franklin Street sign). This exit is about 1.5 miles past the I-40 interchange and about 1/4 mile past the Erwin Road traffic light. Proceed on Franklin Street for 2.6 miles. Morehead Planetarium is located on the left side of the road about 1/2 block after Hillsborough Street (also labeled Raleigh St. on left side of road) traffic light.

From Greensboro or Winston Salem:
Take I-40 east (Watch for the separation of I-85 and I-40 just East of Efland) to exit 266 - the Chapel Hill and Route 86 exit. Turn right at the exit, taking Route 86 South to Chapel Hill. Route 86 becomes Airport Road. Stay on this road into Chapel Hill (4.1 miles) until the Franklin Street traffic light. Turn left onto Franklin Street. Morehead Planetarium is about 1/2 mile down the road on the right side of the street.
